Last weekend we were able to take a trip to visit some friends about three hours away. These people were like second parents to Eric and I when we were in college. We traveled a long way to get to church every weekend and they'd host us and give us that homey atmosphere you miss when you're away at school.
We attended that church for 4 years(2 years of school + our first two years of marriage).
So when they invited us, back in September, to come out for a visit we gladly accepted the offer.
They have two of these dogs. Zena is the biggest baby there is. She loves to cuddle!
Sandy had the fun idea of making cake pops with the girls. Little did we know it'd turn into an all-day process, but it was alot of fun and we ended up with over a hundred of them!
Most of them came home with us for the big girl's birthday sleepover(which is currently in process even as I type this). Having the dessert taken care of a week before the party? Yes, please!
Are you seeing a pattern with Zena?
(This is proof for my in-laws that I'm NOT a dog hater...it just depends on the dog:))
This was on lazy Sunday, after church and a big family picnic. The weather was beautiful!(in the 70s!)
While we ladies were busy in the kitchen all day, the men were playing out in Russ's wood shop....quite an amazing wood shop, I might add. Eric was in heaven!
Trips away are for fort making...and then napping in(see the feet under there?) I found her there an hour later.
We learned a new game. Well, the others did. I was busy checking Craigslist in their area.
Some habits are hard to break:)
Their water did wonders for my hair. I was even able to sport a high bun the one day.
(Please excuse the no-makeup-yet-me)

It's always fun to get away for a few days. But hard to say goodbye. I'm sure their house is so quiet without all our noise.
Doesn't she just look sad?
This was Zena as we were pulling out of the driveway.
A huge thank you to our hosts for Veteran's Day weekend!
We love you and promise to return before another five years goes by!
xo,
Sarah
